Buccal Fat Pad Correction (Bichectomy)

Buccal fat pad correction (bichectomy) involves the reduction and modelling of fatty cheek tissue to give the cheeks a better contour. Marlene Dietrich had this procedure performed on herself almost 100 years ago!

Procedure
Bichectomy is usually performed under local anesthesia. Very extensive procedures also may be carried out under sedation or under general anesthesia. You can be discharged after a few hours.
Surgery is performed within the mouth through buccal mucosa. Therefore, no scars are visible from the incision. The surgical wound in the mouth is closed with thin silk threads. These are removed after about ten days.
Advantages of bichectomy:
-
Emphasising cheekbone area
-
Improvement of facial contour
-
Reduction of cheeks (‘baby face’)

Cheek Bone Surgery (Zygomaplasty)

To emphasise the cheekbone region esthetically, zygomatic bone augmentation, reduction or replacement can be performed surgically.
Procedure
Surgery is performed under general anesthesia. Depending on extent, it can also be performed on a day-case basis. In this case, you can be discharged after a few hours.
The procedure is performed intraorally in the maxillary mucosal fold with exposure of the zygomatic bone. Therefore, no scars are visible from the incision. Depending on individual requirements and planned procedure, we have various surgical options: Bone augmentation, bone reduction or bone repositioning.
The intraoral surgical wound is closed with thin silk threads. These are removed after about ten days.
