Migraine treatment with Botox

According to estimates by the German Migraine and Headache Society, around eight million people in Germany suffer from migraine, including far more women than men. They are almost constantly dependent on pain killers in order to cope with everyday life. In very severe cases, disability and personality disorders are the result of pain attacks.

During the widespread aesthetic facial treatment with botulinum toxin A (e.g. Botox®), a side effect of the active ingredient was discovered by chance - the improvement of clinical condition in migraine patients.

The treatment is suitable for patients for whom conventional therapy methods, medication or relaxation exercises have had no or insufficient effect.

In particular, great importance is attached to the treatment of patients with daily migraine attacks, which are often accompanied by tension headaches. Other triggers of the pain, such as stress, lack of sleep, irregular food intake, weather sensitivity, menstruation, sensory overload and strong emotions cannot be treated with botulinum toxin A.
